THE FERRARI F355
The Ferrari F355 was introduced in 1995 and came in three body styles, the Berlinetta, Spider and GTS. The beautifully shaped Pininfarina body is a timeless design and appears ageless today. The body was designed through extensive work in the wind tunnel to highest aerodynamic standards. The front spoiler is designed to optimize airflow into the smooth underbody for negative lift. The F355 was the first Ferrari built that could be a proper, everyday car. It was a highly successful model for Ferrari, with 11,273 units produced from 1995-1999. The spider comprised 3,717 of the cars, with only 2.664 built with the gated 6-speed transmission.
At the heart of any Ferrari is its engine, and when introduced the Ferrari F355 could outperform any previous 8-cylinder Ferrari. The engine is a unique 5-valve per cylinder design allowed it to produce 109 horsepower per litre, the highest spec for any naturally aspirated V8 engine at that time and the first engine to top 100 hp / litre. Maximum torque is a very usage 6000 rpm.
THIS CAR
Purchased new by the current owner at Ogner Motorcars in Woodland Hills, California on March 14, 1996, it has been a Southern California car its entire life. Although the car was used regularly, it has accumulated less than 21,500 original miles in its lifetime. Ferrari’s of this era were not supplied with stereos, so this car was upgraded when new to include a McIntosh MX-401 stereo CD player, MCD-410 CD changer, and McIntosh power amplifier and high quality speakers with a custom-build, leather subwoofer enclosure. K-40 Sonar radar and front laser diffuser was all installed.
The car comes with lifetime service records, starting in June 1996. The front bumper has been repainted to erase normal paint chips. Engine-out belt service was performed by Fast Cars, Ltd in Redondo Beach, California less than 400 miles ago.
